- ***pc -*** the preconditioner context
- ***apply -*** the application-provided preconditioning routine



## Calling sequence of `apply`

   PetscErrorCode apply(PC pc, Vec xin, Vec xout)
```


- ***pc -*** the preconditioner, get the application context with `PCShellGetContext()`
- ***xin -*** input vector
- ***xout -*** output vector
